Sounds of the Week 14th November
Ever since I first played one of Banks's songs on soundcloud, i've been listening to her non-stop. Based in Los Angeles, Banks has recently released records produced by some really interesting producers, such as Sohn, TEED, Lil Silva & Jamie Woon. She's currently on a European tour, also supporting some gigs for The Weeknd; how sad was I not to see a Dublin show pop up on the calender. How and ever, if I wanted to let her know my heartache, I could give her a call. Banks makes it clear that her manager runs her social media feeds and has put up her actual phone number on her facebook for fans to ring her up and talk to her. I find it a genuinely nice way of connecting with people over her music. Of course with that in mind I encourage you all to go buy her music and support the worthy artist she is, but here's a free Peter Gabriel cover she did not too long ago which works so nicely.
* Update 28th November *
Another fantastic cover here by BANKS performing a WEEKND track "What you need" For Zane Lowe's Radio One show.
Blood Orange is helping bring back an early 80s disco sound that can't help but make you want to move. Born Devonté Hynes, Blood Orange just finished producing and helping to write Solange Knowle's third album; an album i'm very excited to hear. Hynes has previously produced also for acts such as the Chemical Brothers and Florence and The Machine. With the release of his second album "Cupid Deluxe" in a few days, I tought i'd tempt you to give him a try with this free sound he put up on his soundcloud. He's definitely one to watch and to give a go!.
